Each session is unique to each client. However, there are certain common elements which are applied to all sessions, and are dependent upon the goals for that session.

The common elements do include: 

  • Mental health discussion,
  • Assessment of the situation
  • Mental Wellness Goals and outcomes
  • Mental Wellness Planning,
  • Therapy Interventions, 
  • Learning new skills, insights, and options,
  • Activities to be completed between sessions,
  • Evaluation of progress.

For most situations, this might need between 4 and 6 sessions.

It never takes 1 session.  this is called magic, or hopeful thinking! 🙂

The Structure we follow

Intake Phase and 1st Session

This is a longer session (80 minutes).
During this time, we combine 2 key elements for your Mental Wellness Plan needed to achieve successful outcomes.

What happens during First Session

Step 1 – Both you and your therapist need to know and understand what your intended goal is – however small or large.
Your therapist needs to understand what is happening for you, what decisions you make – and how, what influence your emotions have and much more.
This leads directly into step 2. Step 2 – You both discuss and agree on your Mental Wellness Plan. This is a plan which is specific to you, your issue, and your goals.
We also start your healing journey. We work with the first part of your Mental Wellness Plan – and you leave with actions to complete before session 2.
The intervention we may use depends on what you need – it could be strategic psychotherapy; hypnosis; counselling; self-discovery; coaching, or any other technique which will help you to start moving towards better mental health..

2nd Session +

Work on your Mental Wellness Plan
Each session is 50 minutes long. Each session begins with a review of the actions you have taken and ends with further actions to take before the next session.
During the session, we work on the steps, learnings, skill development and insights needed to reset your mental wellness.
You are always involved in evaluating your progress and therefore deciding on the number of sessions required to reach your outcomes.

2nd phase – Journey to Mental Wellness

This phase is where we do the work to help you achieve your intended outcome - or goals.
This may take a 2 or more sessions – depending on what we are working towards.
The majority of our clients have between 4 – 6 sessions during this phase.
What does this involve? Each session is 50 minutes long. Each starts with a review of the actions you have taken and ends with further actions to take before the next session. In the session, we work on the steps and insights needed to reset your mental wellness.

3rd phase – Ending Phase

This is a single session of 50 minutes and focuses on
- consolidating the skills you need to go forward independently,
- confirming how you make better informed personal decisions, and
- revising how you can continue to grow and maintain your achievements…. And Mental Wellness.
